Some of the highlights of the November sale include a vintage T206 baseball card, a Dick Tracy subset and a Six Million Dollar Man complete test run set.

Exciting vintage sports cards and non-sports cards certified by CGC Cards™ are being offered in a wide-ranging Hake's Auction. Online bidding is already underway for Hake's Auction 242, which is being held on November 19-20, 2024.

One of the top CGC Cards-certified sports cards in the sale is a 1909-11 T206 #498 Ed Walsh - Portrait graded CGC 4.5 (lot 547), which has an estimate of $1,000 to $2,000. The T206 is arguably the most popular and important vintage sports card set ever made. The T206 set is well-known for its small-sized cards, tobacco advertisement backs and several early MLB Hall of Famers, including Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Christy Mathewson and Honus Wagner. Another Hall of Famer from the set is Chicago White Sox star pitcher Ed Walsh, who retired from baseball with the lowest career ERA (1.82) for a starting pitcher in MLB history.

As for the non-sports cards certified by CGC Cards in the sale, one of the top highlights is a 27-card group of R23 Little Book Series (1939) Whitman Publishing Dick Tracy cards graded CGC 1 to CGC 6 and pedigreed to the John Grossman Collection (lot 2020), which has an estimate of $2,000 to $5,000. Inspired by the American comic strip of the same name that debuted in 1931, these Dick Tracy cards featured the hard-nosed police detective, criminals he chased and other events from the comics. This group is five cards short of a complete 32-card subset of Dick Tracy, which had 224 cards overall.

Another top non-sports highlight in the sale is a 55-card complete set of 1974 Topps Six Million Dollar Man - Test Issue cards graded CGC 2.5 to CGC 8 and pedigreed to the Roxanne Toser Collection (lot 2060), which has an estimate of $2,000 to $5,000. Based off the hit 1970s action TV series "The Six Million Dollar Man," the cards feature color images pulled directly from the show. However, since Donruss owned the licensing to the show, this complete test run set from Topps was never released in retail stores.
