CGC-certified 'Void' Magic Cards Cast a Spell in Upcoming Auction

Several “VOID” cards are among dozens of CGC-certified test print and other rare Magic: The Gathering cards being offered in an ongoing Heritage Auctions sale. Online bidding is already underway for the Magic: The Gathering Test Prints and Rarities Showcase Auction, which is set to end on December 12, 2024.

A Tithebearer Giant, Magic: The Gathering (2020) Jumpstart – 284 “VOID” graded CGC 9 (lot 78148) and a Pitchburn Devils, Magic: The Gathering (2020) Core Set 2021 – 156/274 “VOID” graded CGC 8.5 (lot 78150) are two examples of the “voided” Magic cards being offered by Heritage. During the production of Core Set 2021, Wizards of the Coast began experimenting with a new card printing process that would eventually be used for Core Set 2021’s sister set, Jumpstart. Several cards from Core Set 2021 were printed using this new production process, but they have the letters spelling “VOID” across them so that employees would know not to include those test cards in Core Set 2021 booster packs. Ultimately, some of these cards slipped into booster packs anyway, resulting in several being distributed to the public.
