Heritage Offers Rare Magic: The Gathering Cards Certified by CGC

A Black Lotus and dozens of other early Magic: The Gathering cards certified by CGC® are being offered in an upcoming Heritage Auction’s sale. Online bidding for the Tapping into the Many Worlds of Magic: The Gathering Volume VI auction will begin on March 13, 2025. The auction is set to end on April 10, 2025.

The top CGC-certified highlight in the sale is a Black Lotus, Magic: The Gathering (1993) International Edition graded CGC Gem Mint 10. On December 10, 1993, Wizards of the Coast released the Collectors’ Edition — a set of 362 cards, with 302 from Beta Edition and the others consisting of land cards. While the US and Canada received the Collectors’ Edition set, other countries received the International Edition, which was the same set but severely short printed, with only 5,000 sets. This Black Lotus comes from one of these International Edition sets, which means it is extremely rare.

Also featured in the sale is this Mox Sapphire, Magic: The Gathering (1993) International Edition graded CGC Gem Mint 10. Like the Black Lotus above, this Mox Sapphire also came from the short-printed International Edition set. Unlike their Beta counterparts, International Edition cards have square corners and “International Edition” printed across the back of the card, making it easy to distinguish them from other sets. Like Black Lotus, Mox Sapphire is also a Power 9 card, a potent group that was later banned from competitive gameplay and are eagerly sought by collectors today.
