A Soccer Master Class: Episode #5 of the CSG Podcast, Collect This!
Posted on 9/1/2022
Umberto Paolucci and Matteo Pella, founders and curators of the World Football Collection (WFC), join Collect This! host Alan Goldsher for an "edutaining" discussion about the history, the evolution and the cards that make soccer so magical for collectors around the world.
“The WFC is an insane 250,000-piece collection of soccer memorabilia that boasts jerseys, balls, trophies, shoes and medals from as early as the 1920s, and as recent as today.” says Goldsher. “I’ve been lucky enough to see it, and from my perspective, it’s the greatest collection of soccer memorabilia in the world. For that matter, in terms of quantity and quality, I’d put it up against any American sports hall of fame.”
Goldsher adds, “Umberto and Matteo will deny this — they’re both super-modest — but their depth of knowledge about the sport’s previous and current history is, well, really deep. They not only talked to me about the fascinating history of the WFC, but they offered up some thoughts and predictions about the upcoming World Cup. Spoiler alert: Matteo digs the Belgian national team a whole lot.”
New episodes of CSG’s sports card and collectibles podcast Collect This! will drop every Thursday, and can be heard on Apple, Spotify and all major podcast platforms. For more information, write [email protected].
