Magic Classics Certified by CGC Trading Cards See Impressive Results

Several classic Magic: The Gathering cards from the 1990s that are certified by CGC Trading Cards™ achieved excellent results in a recent sale. Heritage Auctions’ Tapping into the Many Worlds of Magic: The Gathering Vol. 2 Showcase Auction concluded on August 18, 2022.
The top card in the sale was a Black Lotus, Magic: The Gathering (1993) Unlimited Edition graded CGC 3.5 (lot 78091), which realized $9,360. One of the Power Nine, Black Lotus was restricted in regular gameplay for being too powerful and giving players an unfair advantage. Today, it is eagerly sought by collectors for its rarity and value, and is generally regarded as the most valuable Magic card from any regular set. Black Lotus also saw prints in the Alpha and Beta editions of the 1993 print run.

- an Ancestral Recall (1993) Unlimited Edition graded CGC 6.5 (lot 78090) that realized $3,000
- a Mox Emerald (1993) Unlimited Edition graded CGC 5 (lot 78095) that realized $2,880
- a Mox Pearl (1993) Unlimited Edition graded CGC 5.5 (lot 78097) that realized $2,880
