Rare Miles Morales Card Certified by CGC Trading Cards Sells for $11,000

A highly valuable Miles Morales card certified by CGC Trading Cards® sold for a record $11,000 in an eBay auction on September 16, 2022. The Miles Morales, Marvel (2022) Metal Universe Spider-Man #52 Precious Metal Gems Green graded CGC 9 is one of the rarest cards in the set.

Miles Morales, Earth 1610’s Spider-Man, quickly became popular after his 2018 movie debut in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He has since been featured in several forms of Marvel media, including video games, comics, merchandise and trading cards.

Upper Deck’s Marvel Metal Universe set has 200 total cards featuring iconic Marvel characters. Each card in the set has several colored parallels, each with their own denominations. Collectors have about a 1 in 8 chance of pulling a Gold FX or Grandiose holofoil pattern out of a hobby box or pack and a 1 in 1 chance of pulling a Yellow Light FX parallel out of a blaster pack. Meanwhile, all the other color variants are limited prints noted by a number on the bottom left corner. For example, there are 90 total Precious Metal Gems Red variants available in the series, and they’re only physically available through hobby boxes.

Precious Metal Gems Green variants are the second-rarest cards in the set with only 10 copies having been printed and distributed in hobby boxes. This CGC-graded example is #6/10, highlighting the card’s exceptional rarity. In addition to its grade of CGC 9, the card earned sub-grades of 10 for Centering, 9 for Surface, 9 for Corners and 9 for Edges.
