CSG Scouting Report: QBs on Fire!
Posted on 10/7/2022
This NFL season, quarterbacks have been spectacular, wild and an absolute delight to watch. So this week, we look at the gun slingers who are making an impact, including a guy drafted in 2013.
Current Star Cannons
Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
No surprises here, but Mahomes showed everyone why he should still be the most feared QB in the league after putting up 41 points on a very good Tampa Bay defense.
Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks
Geno Smith leads the league in passer rating. Yes, the Geno Smith who Jets fans wrote off as a bust. Smith is now in Seattle and having a resurgence that has Seahawks fans thinking playoffs.
Cooper Rush, Dallas Cowboys
That’s record-breaking Cooper Rush to you. On Sunday, Rush broke the Dallas Cowboys record becoming the first QB to win his first four starts with the franchise. Although his four starts weren’t consecutive, expect Rush to get a look at a starting job next season.
Rookie Watch
Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh Steelers
The moment Steelers fans have been waiting for since the preseason is finally here. Kenny Pickett took over for benched Mitch Trubisky on Sunday. Although his effort fell short in the loss, he played well and could easily be in the conversation for Rookie of the Year if he keeps this up.
Bailey Zappe, New England Patriots
The fourth rounder out of Western Kentucky saw his first NFL action when relieving Brian Hoyer. Zappe showed promise as he took the game to overtime, before the Patriots ultimately fell short to the Packers.
