CGC Trading Cards Registry Featured Set: Shining Fates Master Set

Shining Fates is a special expansion of the Sword & Shield Series. It was released in Japan in November 2020 and in the US in February 2021. The Sword & Shield Series is set in the region of Galar, which is based on the United Kingdom and features a hilly landscape dotted with lakes.

The Shining Fates set includes many Pokémon V and VMAX, which were first introduced in the Sword & Shield expansion, released in the US in February 2020. Pokémon V have attacks that are more powerful than regular Pokémon and give a player two prize cards for knocking them out. Some Pokémon V can evolve into Pokémon VMAX, which have much higher HP and damage thresholds and would give a player three prize cards if knocked out.

In addition to all of the powerful Pokémon V and VMAX, this set also includes a 122 card Shiny Vault sub-set featuring Shiny Pokémon. Shiny Pokémon have a different coloration than what is typical for their species, though they have no difference in stats than their regular color counterparts, and these cards are usually very rare.

The Shining Fates Master Set is massive, containing 249 cards including the reverse holo variants, as well as the Shiny Vault sub-set. @spiderguybooks’s set is well on its way to completion at 57% and includes several Pristine 10 cards such as the Full Art Ditto VMAX and the Full Art Alcremie VMAX. @spiderguybooks also has some of the most highly sought-after cards in this set, including the Full Art Skyla Trainer in a CGC 9.5 with all 9.5 sub-grades and the Shiny Vault Charizard VMAX in Gigantamax form in a CGC 9!
