Collect This! Presents an Homage to Julio Rodriguez
Posted on 10/27/2022
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez is coming off of a season in which he became the first rookie to hit 25 home runs and steal 25 bases, so it's little surprise that he’s the frontrunner to win the 2022 MLB Rookie of the Year Award.
It's even less of a surprise that when collector Pete Lacombe pulled a J-Rod 2022 Topps Chrome #111 Logofractor Rose Gold parallel card, he flew down to CSG headquarters in Florida to get it graded. And it's even less surprising that when it received a grade of 10 from CSG's expert graders, he was more than a little excited.
Alan Goldsher, the host of CSG’s Collect This! podcast, thought it was only natural to invite Pete and Elite Sports NY editor Matt Musico onto the show to discuss the card and the player. “J-Rod is a straight-up five-tool kid. He has the kind of talent and charisma that’ll both attract new baseball fans and retain old ones."
Goldsher continued, “Pete’s enthusiasm for the card and collecting in general was infectious, but considering the card’s potential value, I’d be pretty enthused myself. And Matt is a walking Baseball Encyclopedia, the perfect sportswriter to discuss what makes Rodriguez so attractive to baseball watchers and card collectors alike.”
New episodes of CSG’s sports card and collectibles podcast Collect This! premiere every Thursday and can be heard on Apple, Spotify and all major podcast platforms. For more information, write [email protected].
