Exemplary Sports Illustrated Magazines Certified by CSG Affiliate CGC Offered in November Heritage Sale

Dozens of sports publications graded by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®), an affiliate of Certified Sports Guaranty® (CSG®), including several iconic issues of Sports Illustrated, are being offered in a Heritage Auctions sale. Online bidding is underway for the 2022 Fall Sports Catalog Auction, which is being held on November 17-19, 2022.

The top CGC-certified magazine in the sale is a Sports Illustrated v4 #25 (June 18, 1956; Mickey Mantle cover) graded CGC 9.4 (lot 50059). This Sports Illustrated issue is the first to feature the legendary New York Yankees star Mickey Mantle, who is best known for being the greatest switch hitter in baseball history. This example has a guide value or estimate of at least $40,000.

Also being offered in the auction is a Sports Illustrated v96 #7 (February 18, 2002; LeBron James cover) graded CGC 9.8 (lot 57960). This issue of Sports Illustrated is another to feature an icon on the cover, this time giving fans an introduction to star basketball player LeBron James. With a grade of CGC 9.8, this issue is unsurpassed in the CGC Census. It has a guide value or estimate of at least $10,000.
