CSG Grades Valuable E-X2001 #75 Tim Duncan Card

The experts at Certified Sports Guaranty® (CSG®) recently certified a rare 1997-98 E-X2001 #75 Tim Duncan Essential Credentials Now basketball card. This is the first #75 Tim Duncan Essential Credentials Now card in the CSG Population Report. It earned a grade of CSG 9.

The card features Tim Duncan in a crouch while holding a basketball, ready to dribble across the court. The E-X2001 logo sits in the top right-hand corner of the green holographic card. Meanwhile, the back of the card offers several stats from Duncan’s 1996-97 season at Wake Forest, biographical information and the card’s serial number of 20/75. Comparable examples have sold for well over $10,000.

Essential Credentials Now is a parallel set that was included in Skybox’s 1997-98 E-X2001 Basketball Cards set. Each of the base set’s 82 cards had both an Essential Credentials Now parallel and an Essential Credentials Future parallel, with the two sets differentiated by either a green or purple holo design. In total, there were three different versions of each player’s card that collectors could pull, with parallels being more elusive than base set variants.

Each Essential Credentials Now parallel has a serial number that corresponds with the player’s actual card number. For example, this CSG-certified #75 Tim Duncan card has a serial number of 20/75. This means that the #75 Tim Duncan Essential Credentials Now parallel had a limited print run of only 75 copies, making this card exceedingly rare and valuable.

Tim Duncan played for the San Antonio Spurs from 1997 to 2016. Nicknamed “The Big Fundamental,” Duncan was an asset to the Spurs as a powerful forward position. He recorded many achievements during his career, including being the only player to be chosen for both the All-NBA and All-Defensive Teams for 13 consecutive seasons. Duncan was also a two-time NBA MVP, a five-time NBA champion, a three-time NBA Finals MVP, and a 15-time NBA All-Star.
