Team CGC Trading Cards Made Day Two in the Pokémon Orlando Regional Championships!
Posted on 2/10/2023
Team CGC Trading Cards continues its streak of Day Two placings, with Azul Garcia Greigo leading the way! In Florida, the team took on the challenge of competing at the Pokémon Orlando Regional Championships on February 3-5. This was the largest regional event to date with 1,485 Master-level competitors.
Representing Team CGC Trading Cards, Azul Garcia Griego placed 48th (10/5/0), Daniel Altavilla placed 104th (8/4/3), Caleb Gedemer placed 426th (4/3/2) and Kidd Starck placed 673rd (3/3/2).
The Orlando Regionals marked the beginning of the Crown Zenith set coming into gameplay, producing new powerful cards to be wary of like Zamazenta, the Sky Seal Stone and Radiant Eternatus. Despite the addition of new cards, old foes like Lugia VSTAR, Mew VMAX, Duraludon VMAX, Hisuian Goodra VSTAR, Regigigas and Arceus VSTAR continued to be tough opponents. Having run variations of the Lost Box for a few tournaments, the team took the opportunity to change their strategy. This time the team played using a control focused deck, centered on the Celebrations Yveltal and Eldegoss V.
Team CGC Trading Cards was assembled by Danny Oesterreich in 2022, and is comprised of seasoned players Daniel Altavilla, Azul Garcia Griego, Caleb Gedemer and Kidd Starck. The team will compete next at the Oceania International Championships, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, in South Wharf, Victoria, Australia on February 17-19.
