Upcoming Releases: July 2023

It seems as though there is something for everyone this July! Several major franchises that Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) covers are offering something new this month, including some big releases in the comic and film industries. Knight Terrors – July 4

The DC Universe will face its greatest fears in a brand-new publishing event: “Knight Terrors!”

The newest Dawn of DC milestone sees each DC hero or villain confronting their worst nightmares in a mysterious world called the “Nightmare Realm.” The series begins with Knight Terrors: First Blood #1, in which Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman investigate a strange appearance. They end up getting more than they bargained for when a new villain called Insomnia drags each hero and villain into the Nightmare Realm, a place where everyone must confront their own twisted nightmares.

Knight Terrors: First Blood #1 is being released July 4, 2023. Every miniseries in the event will feature a different DC hero or villain, so be sure to keep an eye out for them all!

Yu-Gi-Oh! 25th Anniversary Reprints – July 14

Indulge in the nostalgia of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG’s earliest days with a host of classic set reprints!

Konami is celebrating Yu-Gi-Oh!’s 25th anniversary by giving players and collectors a chance to relive the old days of the TCG. Starting July 14, trading card stores will begin offering reprints of some of the earliest booster sets in the game. The five sets include Legend of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Metal Raiders, Spell Ruler, Pharaoh's Servant and Invasion of Chaos. Each booster pack contains nine cards, and both individual packs and booster boxes will be available for sale.

2023 Topps Tribute Baseball

The high-end Topps Tribute Baseball series is back, bringing a fresh design to an all-new lineup of top active players and baseball legends of the past. Make sure to look out for new Topps Tribute Olympus autograph inserts, as well as the player Tribute Career Achievement set highlighting international superstar Shohei Ohtani. The 100-card Base Set contains 90 active veterans and 10 of the top MLB rookies. Hobby Boxes include a mixture of three Autograph and three Relic cards per box!

The 2023 Topps Tribute Baseball set is being released on July 12, 2023.

Pikmin 4 – July 21

After 10 long years, gamers will finally be able to explore the strange world of Pikmin once again!

Pikmin 4 takes the typical plot of the Pikmin franchise and adds a host of new features to keep the gameplay fresh and exciting for veterans while also understandable for new players. Captain Olimar, the previous protagonist of the Pikmin games, crash-lands on the Pikmin planet and sends a distress signal for help. As a member of the Rescue Corps, you set out to find him… only to crash-land on the planet yourself! You must team up with colorful Pikmin — plant-like alien creatures of various colors, sizes and abilities — to rebuild your ship, rescue Olimar and escape the planet before time runs out!

New features for Pikmin 4 include nighttime explorations, customizable characters, Glow Pikmin and a new dog-like creature called Oatchi, who serves as your loyal companion. There’s a lot to look forward to when Pikmin 4 is released on Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2023!

Barbie – July 21

Barbie steps into the world of live-action films in her newest movie!

After a nearly 15-year wait, the Barbie movie is nearly ready for release. The film stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, who are expelled from Barbieland — a utopia for perfect dolls — and go on a journey of self-discovery in the real world.

This isn’t your typical straight-to-video Barbie adventure, like many have become accustomed to over the years. Besides being live-action, the 2023 film promises to be full of comedy and themes that both adults and children will enjoy.

Barbie arrives in theaters — in all of her pink glory — on July 21.
