CGC Cards Certifies Charming Little League Baseball Cards of MLB Superstar Mike Trout
Posted on 7/17/2023
CGC Cards™ recently authenticated arguably some of the rarest and earliest collectibles from Los Angeles Angels star outfielder Mike Trout's already legendary baseball career. A pair of Little League trading cards from Trout's childhood, along with four personal family photographs of the young slugger in baseball and football uniforms, sold in a Robert Edwards Auction sale, realizing $1,920 on April 23, 2023. They were then submitted to CGC Cards for certification.
Trout's uncle held on to the items for two decades before auctioning off the historic collectibles, with family members and the printers of the trading cards confirming that less than 12 of each Little League card were produced.

The first card from his earliest playing days is a 2000 T & F Camera Mike Trout Little League Card, with Trout Family Provenance, certified by CGC Cards as Authentic. The center fielder's parents signed their son up for the Millville National youth baseball league in their hometown of Millville, New Jersey, in 1998. A couple of years later, in 2000, Trout's team got their own baseball cards.
The Little Leaguer is seen wearing his Yankees team uniform and cap while posing in a batting stance, surrounded by a red, white, blue and black border on the front. On the back, the card shares player information, such as Trout's age (8), height (4'1"), weight (65 lbs), positions (shortstop/pitcher) and his favorite MLB player at the time (Derek Jeter).

A few years later, Trout moved up to the Millville American Cal Ripken league and received another baseball card. His second youth baseball card is a 2003 MVP Sports Cards #10 Mike Trout Little League Card, with Trout Family Provenance, certified by CGC Cards as Authentic.
The trading card from his pre-teen years shows Trout in a Steelman Photo Cubs jersey and cap, kneeling with a baseball bat in hand. The front also features his name, team name and positions. Similar to the previous card, the back contains Trout's updated player information, including his age (11), height (5'1"), weight (102 lbs) and an additional smaller image of his player photo. Incredibly charming, the cards are an early link to one of the greatest MLB players of the modern pro baseball era.
Trout was selected out of high school by the Angels in the first round (25th overall) of the 2009 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut in July 2011 before being sent back down to the minors and winning the 2011 Baseball America Minor League Player of the Year award. In 2012, he was called up to the majors once again, and would go on to win the MLB Rookie of the Year, cementing his place in center field for the Angels ever since.
The rare five-tool player became the face of the league in the coming years. While a World Series ring still eludes his illustrious pro career, Trout has won basically every other major MLB award. He is an 11-time All-Star, three-time AL MVP, nine-time Silver Slugger Award winner, two-time Hank Aaron Award winner, AL RBI leader (2014), AL stolen base leader (2012) and more.
