CGC Cards Grades Ultra-rare Serialized Dwarven Sol Ring a Pristine 10
Posted on 7/26/2023
In June, Wizards of the Coast released the Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth cross-over set for the ongoing Magic: The Gathering’s Universes Beyond series. The Tales of Middle-earth set includes four serialized cards known as Sol Rings, with three modeled after Elven, Dwarven and Human rings from the novels, and one 001/001 modeled after the legendary One Ring itself.
CGC Cards™ recently had the honor of certifying one of these serialized Sol Rings. The Dwarven Sol Ring, Magic: The Gathering (2023) Tales of Middle-earth Mythic Rare received a grade of CGC Pristine 10, the highest grade available on the CGC Cards grading scale. Adding to its rarity, this particular card is serialized 001/700.
The card features a depiction of the Dwarven Sol Ring resting on a pedestal, with a dwarven hand reaching for it. Like the other Sol Rings in the series, the Dwarven Sol Ring features text written in a fantasy language. In the left-hand bottom corner of the art box, the serialized number 001/700 is shown. Only 700 copies of Dwarven Sol Ring were released in booster packs, and CGC Cards is honored to have graded this one.
“Serialized cards like this Dwarven Sol Ring are relatively new in the TCG space,” said Matt Quinn, Vice President of CGC Cards. “They bring another level of excitement when opening packs that was largely absent in the space a few years ago.”
The Sol Rings are only available in MTG Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Collector Booster boxes — a special version of Magic: The Gathering booster boxes that contain alt-art cards, rares, foil cards and other cards that cannot be found in other products. Due to a limited production run, Collector Booster boxes are extremely rare and expensive, which makes the serialized Sol Ring cards even more desirable. If you have pulled one of these legendary cards, consider submitting it to CGC Cards for certification!
