Team CGC Cards Places Top 16 in the Pokémon Pittsburgh Regional Championships!
Posted on 9/18/2023
Team CGC Cards battled fiercely against a massive gathering of competitors at the Pokémon Pittsburgh Regional Championships! Facing 1,778 Master-level competitors, the team took the first regional event of the 2024 season by storm, September 8-10.
Representing Team CGC Cards, Caleb Gedemer placed 16th (11/3/1), Grant Manley placed 33rd (10/3/2) and Azul Garcia Griego unfortunately did not advance to Day 2 of competition. Kidd Starck was unable to attend the event, but we hope to cheer him on in Peoria next month. Remi Lorenz faced his first competition at the Senior-level, placing 19th (5/2/1) out of 154 players.
When asked for comment about the team’s strategy at Pittsburg, Caleb had this to say: “We played Fusion Mew like at Worlds, but with a few changes, including the new Town Store Stadium. Searching for any Tool card was nice, especially to find Forest Seal Stone. At worst, the card thins out a Tool you don't want! Mew was well-positioned for this event with a major decline in Spiritomb, and the lackluster performance of Charizard ex.” Remi opted for a different deck composition at the Senior-level, utilizing Radiant Charizard and Spiritomb.
Team CGC Cards was assembled by Danny Oesterreich in 2022, and is comprised of seasoned players Azul Garcia Griego, Caleb Gedemer, Kidd Starck, Grant Manley and Remi Lorenz. The team will compete next at the Peoria Regional Championships, at the Peoria Civic Center, in Peoria, Illinois on October 6-8.
