CGC Cards Now Grading Sorcery: Contested Realm
Posted on 9/15/2023
CGC Cards™ is thrilled to announce the expansion of its expert authentication, grading and encapsulation services to include the Sorcery: Contested Realms trading card game!
During the COVID-19 pandemic, communities of creators, collectors and hobbyists came together to build and show off their TCG collections. When they put their heads together, many creators were inspired to begin developing their own TCGs, leading to a new era of creative TCG development.
Two such creators, Erik Olofsson and Nikolas Reynolds, sought to create an “old school” fantasy TCG that focuses on visual appeal and lore-inspired gameplay. The result is the Sorcery: Contested Realms TCG — a trading card game that not only delivers a rich gameplay experience but is also entirely hand-painted by some of the industry’s most famous artists. The concept garnered overwhelming support on Kickstarter, with pledged funds surpassing $4 million — a record-breaking achievement for a TCG on the platform.
As thanks for the astounding support, Erik’s Curiosa Ltd. released a limited number of booster boxes featuring Alpha editions of cards to be featured in the upcoming Sorcery TCG. In total, only 29,000 Alpha booster boxes were printed. Each box contained 39 packs and one Alpha box topper card. CGC Cards had the honor of grading two examples of the most expensive cards in the set — two Philosopher’s Stones, Sorcery: Contested Realm (2023) Alpha Foils. Each received a grade of CGC Pristine 10, the highest grade on the CGC Cards Grading Scale.
“The Sorcery: Contested Realm TCG is projected to be one of the hottest trading card games of the year,” said Matt Quinn, Vice President of CGC Cards. “We’re honored to have graded such impressive examples of these cards, which will likely continue to be prized by collectors and players for a long time.”
Sorcery: Contested Realms is set to release to the public on November 10, 2023. After opening your packs, make sure to submit your cards to CGC! To learn how, click here.
