The Disney Lorcana TCG was released in September 2023 and has since exploded in popularity, both with players and TCG collectors. Now, nearly a year after the TCG’s release, Disney has introduced the first official tournament circuit for Disney Lorcana: The Disney Lorcana TCG Challenge. Held in parts of North America and Europe, the Disney Lorcana TCG Challenge pits Lorcana players against each other in Swiss rounds, with winners and participants having the opportunity to win various prizes.

One of the prizes included this gold foil Mickey card. Depending on the total number of participants in the tournament, either the top four players (for 1,024 participants or fewer) or the top eight players (for over 1,024 players) received a serialized gold Mickey Mouse – Brave Little Tailor, along with the rights to participate in a future Championship event. According to Disney Lorcana, Mickey Mouse was chosen both for the character’s significance and to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary.

CGC Cards expert grader Kevin Murphy shows off the special gold foil Mickey card and two other promotional Lorcana issues from recent tournaments that each feature a Disney princess. You can check out the trio of Disney Lorcana promo cards in the video below.

As of June 2024, this is the only example of this gold Mickey Mouse in the CGC Cards Population Report. Three tournaments have concluded and seven more are scheduled to take place across North America and Europe, so it is possible that more will soon reach the CGC Cards grading room.
