CGC Signature Series Steps on the Gas in Asia with a Private Signing with Racer Maaya Orido

Posted on 10/9/2024

CGC Cards welcomed Japanese race car driver Maaya Orido, who autographed cards in Hong Kong.

The CGC Signature Series team in Asia recently hosted an exclusive Private Signing event with Japanese race car driver Maaya Orido at Card Hobby HK. Orido, who is part of one of the most famous racing families in Japan, became the first sports celebrity to participate in a CGC Signature Series event in Asia, signing her own sports cards in collaboration with Tarmac Cards and 559 Yokohama Racing.

The event took place September 12, and collectors had several card options to chase. The base card includes an image of Orido standing against her race car while suited up in her sponsored race gear. Multiple parallels are available, as well, including a Silver parallel (special edition), Neptune Blue parallel (serial numbered to 199) and a 559 parallel (serial numbered to 59).

After launching in Hong Kong earlier this year, CGC Cards continues to roll out more services for the collecting community in Asia. Collectors have an even more convenient way to access CGC Cards' expert authentication, grading and encapsulation services. And now, collectors are getting their first taste of CGC Cards Signature Series through its debut Private Signing, with more guest signers for the Asian market in the near future!

The 24-year-old speedster has racing in her blood, growing up in the automotive world thanks to her father, Manabu "Max" Orido. Beginning his career as a street racer, Max is a pro racing legend who has earned several championships. He is a two-time JGTC / Super GT GT300 class champion, two-time Super Taikyu ST-1 class champion and the World Challenge Asia GT4 class champion.

At age 18, Max began to teach his daughter the ins and outs of the industry, as she immersed herself in the sport. Today, she competes in the Kyojo Cup — an all-women's one-make race series in Japan. With racing already in her blood, Orido is now carrying on her father's legacy while also establishing her own footprint in the racing world.
