Heritage Offers Dozens of CGC-certified Magic and Marvel Cards in Deadcode Auction

More than a hundred CGC-certified Magic: The Gathering and Marvel cards are being offered by Heritage Auctions in collaboration with Deadcode — a rock band known for its unique fusion of electronic and rock music — in celebration of their debut album. Nearly all of the items in the auction are from the personal collection of the band’s founder, Steve Morgan. Online bidding for the Deadcode’s Debut Release Trading Cards and Original Art Signature Auction is set to begin in early May, with the auction ending on May 30-31, 2025.

The top CGC-certified highlight in the sale is a Black Lotus, Magic: The Gathering (1993) Limited Edition Beta graded CGC 8. Black Lotus is one of the most popular cards in MTG, known for its status as one of the Power Nine — nine of the most powerful cards in the game. This Black Lotus is from the Beta Edition of the game (the second printing of the original set). There were only 3,000 copies of each rare card printed for Beta, so only 3,000 copies of this particular Black Lotus are known to be in circulation. In fact, it is likely that less than 3,000 still exist due to the cards being more than 30 years old, as of 2025.
