A No. 3 Trainer, Pokémon (1998) Japanese Blastoise Mega Battle certified by CGC Signature Series as authentic and signed by Mitsuhiro Arita (lot 36072) has reached more than $30,000 in online bids several days before the auction. Mitsuhiro Arita is known for his iconic Base Set Charizard artwork, and he also sketched the trophy-holding Pikachu featured on this card. Only 14 copies of the No. 3 Trainer from the Blastoise Mega Battle are estimated to have been awarded to third-place winners of the competition. CGC has certified two examples of No. 3 Trainer, and only one has been autographed by Mitsuhiro Arita.

Additionally, a No. 2 Trainer, Pokémon (1998) Japanese Blastoise Mega Battle certified by CGC Signature Series as authentic and signed by Mitsuhiro Arita (lot 36071) is also being offered in the sale. Like its No. 3 counterpart, No. 2 Trainer was given to the second-place winners of each junior cup and senior cup tournament during the Blastoise Mega Battle event. CGC Cards has certified 3 examples of No. 2 Trainer according to the CGC Cards Population Report.
