What makes it special? The Winged Dragon of Ra is a rare example of a card that has two versions — one that is legal in tournaments, and one that is illegal. All of the original prints of The Winged Dragon of Ra (which include those printed in the sets listed above) are illegal in tournaments.

Did you know? The Winged Dragon of Ra was originally an anime-exclusive card. One of the three Egyptian God Cards, it was hidden away with its brothers by Pegasus, who deemed the cards too powerful for use. In both the anime and manga, these cards are one-of-a-kind and feature special rules in play.

All three Egyptian God Cards were physically printed and released in late 2000 in Japan, but they were marked illegal for play. Their anime abilities made them too powerful for tournament play and didn’t translate well to the actual game. The Winged Dragon of Ra was reprinted in 2012 in Order of Chaos: Special Edition, complete with a new set of rules that made the card legal for tournament play.

Total graded by CGC: According to the CGC Cards Population Report, CGC has certified 115 examples of The Winged Dragon of Ra from the Asian-English Duel Monsters International Promos set. CGC has also certified 37 examples from Legendary Collection (2010), 27 examples from Yugi’s Legendary Decks (2015) and 362 examples from Legendary Collection: 25th Anniversary Edition across all rarities (2023).

Sales highlights: An example of The Winged Dragon of Ra, Yu-Gi-Oh! (2003) Asian-English Duel Monsters International Promos – GBI-003 Secret Rare graded CGC Pristine 10 sold for $700 in a Fanatics Collect Fixed sale on June 5, 2025.

CGC Cards Registry: There is an example of The Winged Dragon of Ra graded CGC 9 in the first-place Yugi’s Legendary Decks set, Yugi’s Legendary Decks by forana. There is also an example of The Winged Dragon of Ra graded CGC Gem Mint 10 in forana’s Legendary Collection set, which is the only Legendary Collection set currently in the CGC Cards Registry.
