CGC Now Grading Pokémon Coins in Shanghai!

Certified Guaranty Company (CGC) is excited to announce that plastic and metal Pokémon coins along with other TCG, sports and non-sports coins may now be submitted to its Shanghai, China, office for authentication, grading and encapsulation. CGC’s special holder for these coins is designed to secure and protect them while seamlessly stacking with the standard CGC holder for cards, which is considered by many to be the industry’s best due to its sleek look, clarity and attractive labels.

CGC is one of the few third-party grading service that has developed a special holder specifically for Pokémon coins and other TCG, sports and non-sports coins. It securely fits Pokémon promotional coins and Pokémon battle tokens sized between 29.8 millimeters and 51.6 millimeters in diameter and 2 millimeters and 3.08 millimeters in thickness. For sports coins, the holder accommodates both vintage and modern sports coins that are around 38 millimeters in diameter.

With the introduction of the new holder, all TCG, sports and non-sports coins should be submitted to CGC rather than Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC), CGC’s affiliate coin grading service, except for legal tender struck by world mints, which should continue to be submitted to NGC.

Please note: Cardboard coins are encapsulated in the standard CGC holder for cards with a protective sleeve.

How to submit TCG, sports and non-sports coins for CGC certification

Pokémon coins and other TCG, sports and non-sports coins can now be submitted to CGC through all Authorized Dealers in Mainland China that accept cards. For a list of Authorized Dealers accepting cards, go here.
