JSA Now Offering Encapsulation Services for Signed Index Cards and Cut Autographs
Posted on 2/10/2026
The Certified Collectibles Group is excited to announce that autograph collectors can now submit signed index cards and cut autographs for authentication by JSA and encapsulation in the crystal-clear, protective holder developed by CGC.
Each authenticated autograph will be encapsulated with a distinct JSA Authentic Autograph label bearing the name of the signer and a certification number. Autograph grading is also available on request, adding another level of prestige to certified signatures.
Autograph hunters commonly use index cards to capture the signatures of celebrities, athletes, musicians, politicians and other notable figures. Many enthusiasts have built substantial collections of these signed index cards as well as autographs that have been carefully cut out of documents. For decades, JSA has been a trusted provider of authentication services for these items, and now JSA will be able to offer an additional layer of protection with encapsulation services.
"JSA has long been trusted to authenticate exceptional signatures, including on index cards and cuts that carry real historical and personal significance," said James J. Spence III, Senior Vice President of JSA. "We are thrilled to honor that trust by offering this new service that further protects the integrity of important and beloved signatures."
JSA’s autograph encapsulation services are available for index cards and cuts measuring up to 148 mm by 98 mm (5.82 x 3.85 inches). The fee for this service is priced by signer name like JSA’s standard services, with an additional $10 fee for encapsulation. Autograph grading is available for an additional fee, which is also dependent on signer name. Please note that only index cards and cuts with two or fewer autographs are eligible for autograph grading.
This service is currently available to submitters in the United States for mail-in submissions only. Items with authentic signatures are encapsulated in a holder with a JSA Authentic Autograph label (which is distinct from the CGC x JSA label used for autographed TCGs, sports cards and non-sports cards).
To submit signed index cards and cut autographs, use the online submission form on CGCcards.com. Select “Signed Index Card or Cut Autograph” as the collectible type and “Authentication & Encapsulation” as the primary service. The autograph authentication fee will then be calculated on the next page of the form when you enter your autograph(s). You can also use the Autograph Fee Calculator on the CGC Cards Services & Fees page to see the associated authentication and grading fees for different signers. Check it out here.
Items eligible for CGC services as well as items that do not qualify as an index card or cut autograph are NOT eligible for this new service. Instead, submit signed sports cards, trading card games (TCGs) and non-sports cards by selecting “Card” as the collectible type on the CGCcards.com online submission form. Submit signed comics and magazines by selecting “Comic” or “Magazine” as the collectible type on the CGCcomics.com online submission form.
