CGC-certified Shohei Ohtani Alter Ego Superheroes SuperFractor Realizes $105,000 in January Fanatics Collect Auctions
Posted on 2/11/2026
A CGC-certified Alter Ego Superheroes SuperFractor featuring a current Los Angeles Dodgers superstar recently realized more than $100,000, making it the fourth-highest realized price for any CGC-certified sports card sold in a Fanatics Collect auction. The rarity was just one of the thousands of CGC-certified sports cards, TCGs and non-sports cards that were sold through the Fanatics Collect marketplace in January 2026.
The 2025 Topps Chrome Update Alter Ego Superheroes #AE-9 Shohei Ohtani - SuperFractor certified CGC Authentic realized $105,000 on January 22. These short-printed inserts have become very popular with collectors because of their comic book-inspired art by Michael Blaskewicz. The artist transformed 10 MLB stars into larger-than-life comic characters, with four-time MVP and two-time World Series champion Shohei Ohtani's card being the gem of the bunch. As a rare two-way player, the Japanese superstar is portrayed as both a magician and a sword-wielding warrior on the comic-inspired rarity. And while the base versions of the short-printed inserts are already scarce to begin with, this particular card is a one-of-one SuperFractor, making it one of the most desirable and valuable cards in the entire product.
Additionally, a 2025-26 Topps Chrome Gold Logoman Redemption Card Stephon Castle certified CGC Authentic realized $78,000 on January 22. Logoman cards are one of the most sought-after collectibles in the hobby today, and gold Logoman patches are even more desirable since they are only worn by players who have won an NBA award, like the MVP, Rookie of the Year or Defensive Player of the Year Awards. Last season, San Antonio Spurs standout Stephon Castle won the Rookie of the Year Award, with Topps Chrome creating a card that can be redeemed for his gold Logoman rarity.
Meanwhile, two interesting Charizard cards turned heads in the January Fanatics auctions. A Charizard / Venusaur, Pokémon (1996) Japanese Base Set – Test Print, No Opaque Layer graded CGC Gem Mint 10 realized $35,000 on January 8. This interesting test print features Charizard on the front and Venusaur on the back, though Venusaur is completely covered in a cosmos holofoil layer and not easy to see. Some collectors speculate that Media Factory — the Japanese company that produced Pokémon cards from 1996 to 2011 — may have printed this test sheet to prepare for the release of the Ancient Mew promo card, which was given to Pokémon fans through a pamphlet commemorating the release of Revelation Lugia (known as Pokémon 2000: The Power of One) in theaters.
Additionally, a Charizard, Pokémon (1999) Base Set 1st Edition Holo with an Off-Center Error graded CGC 9 realized $24,600 on January 18. Off-center errors are common and often characterized by noticeably uneven margins. In this case, the Charizard card is printed much higher than what is standard, with the bottom margin of the card significantly larger than normal. For more information about Off-Center Errors and other card errors, check out the CGC Cards Error Guide.
