Ten Terrific CGC-certified Cards of 2026 MLB Hall of Fame Inductee Andruw Jones
Posted on 2/12/2026
Curaçao-born center fielder Andruw Jones played in Major League Baseball for 17 seasons, primarily with the Atlanta Braves, for whom he made his pro debut in August 1996 at only 19 years old. Joining the Braves just before the playoffs began, he helped Atlanta return to the World Series after winning it all the previous season. In his first two at-bats in the 1996 World Series, Jones became only the second player ever to hit home runs in his first two World Series at-bats and became the youngest player ever to hit a home run in the postseason.
As a teenager on baseball's biggest stage, Jones provided a small glimpse into what he would become, as he matured into one of the greatest center fielders in MLB history. The next season, the young outfielder finished fifth in Rookie of the Year voting. By 1998, he was already a standout defensive player in the outfield, and he continued to improve at the plate, blossoming into a rare five-tool player. That same year, Jones won his first of 10 Gold Glove Awards, which he earned every season from 1998 to 2007, joining a group of only six outfielders who earned 10 Gold Gloves or more.
Jones became a five-time All-Star and one of the most consistent players in the league in the outfield and at the plate. In 2005, he earned the Silver Slugger Award and the NL Hank Aaron Award, was the NL home run leader and the NL RBI leader, finishing second in NL MVP voting. During his years in Atlanta, Jones also became one of the youngest players in MLB history to hit more than 300 career home runs. He would go on to hit 434 total home runs, placing him fifth all-time for homers by a center fielder. This feat made Jones one of only four players to have won 10 Gold Glove Awards with 400 or more home runs under his belt. The other three players (Willie Mays, Mike Schmidt and Ken Griffey Jr.) are each first-ballot Hall of Famers.
Jones' superb play in center field and strong offensive numbers drew comparisons to the legendary Mays, who many consider the best center fielder of all time. It's even been widely reported that Mays himself once told Jones, "Listen, you’re the best center fielder I've ever seen play this game." High praise, to say the least.
While the top center fielders in MLB history can be debated, Jones is undoubtedly in the conversation. In 2023, Atlanta retired his No. 25 jersey number and just recently, the MLB announced that Jones would be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, becoming the first Curaçaoan player to be enshrined in the prestigious museum. After many years of not getting the call, Jones will now officially be among baseball's elite forever when he gives his acceptance speech on July 26, 2026, in Cooperstown, New York, solidifying his legacy as one of the greatest center fielders in MLB history.
Ten Terrific Cards of Andruw Jones
1995 Bowman #23 Andruw Jones
A main focus of any player collection is the rookie cards that are tied to the earliest seasons of their career. As a staple of modern baseball cards, Bowman became a prominent set for rookie issues, and that includes Jones' first appearance in a major league product in 1995. As one of the earliest and most popular cards of his pro career, Jones is seen posing in a batting stance on the front, while the back contains a Scouting Report of the teenager from Curaçao.
1995 Best #50 Andruw Jones (Authentic Autograph)
In the 1990s, card maker Best emphasized young baseball prospects, which meant that some of the earliest cards of MLB stars of the decade were captured during their minor league careers. The 1995 Best #50 highlights Andruw Jones during his time with the Macon Braves, the class-A minor league affiliate of the Atlanta Braves at the time. The popular minor league card has been elevated by Jones' in-person autograph, which was submitted for CGC x JSA authentication and grading, adding significant value to what is otherwise an item of modest value.
