Another Record! CGC-certified 1st Edition Lugia Realizes $100,100 in eBay Sale

Posted on 4/9/2026

This is the third time in three months that a highest-price realized has been recorded for a CGC-certified example of a high-profile card.

It’s another record! A Lugia graded CGC Pristine 10 recently realized more than $100,000 in an eBay sale recorded by Collectr — one of the industry’s most recognized card collecting apps — setting the record for the highest price realized by a CGC-certified 1st Edition Neo Genesis Lugia at auction.

The Lugia, Pokémon (2000) Neo Genesis 1st Edition Holo graded CGC Pristine 10 realized $100,100 in an eBay sale on March 18. Out of the 1,275 examples of this Lugia in the CGC Cards Population Report, only seven are certified a CGC Pristine 10, highlighting this particular card’s rarity and impressive condition. While the Neo Genesis Lugia was not the legendary Pokémon’s first appearance in card form, it was the first official Pokémon TCG card to feature the Diving Pokémon, making it a desirable addition to any collection.

As of April 2026, this Lugia is the third trading card to set a record for a CGC-certified example since the start of the year! Lugia’s six-figure price came after a Kangaskhan Parent/Child Promo graded CGC Pristine 10 realized $640,507 in a Goldin auction in March and a Pokémon Illustrator graded CGC Gem Mint 10 became the second highest-selling CGC-certified card after realizing $2.09 million in a PokeColor auction in February.

“If you haven’t considered grading your cards with CGC yet, now is the time,” said Matt Quinn, Vice President of CGC Cards. “Grading with CGC enhances the value of card collections, as demonstrated by the record prices seen during the first few months of 2026. We are pleased to be showing the value of CGC certification to more collectors with these impressive results.”
