CGC Grades Unawarded and Super Pre-Release Promo One Piece Cards

Posted on 4/9/2026

The two cards featuring the sworn brothers were both intended to be given away as tournament prizes, but one of them was never officially released.

These sworn brothers aren’t your average cards! CGC recently certified two One Piece tournament promo cards: a Monkey D. Luffy Super Pre-Release Winner promo and an unawarded Portgas D. Ace Japanese Tournament Promo. Luffy is graded CGC Pristine 10, while Ace is graded CGC Gem Mint 10.

The Monkey D. Luffy, One Piece (2022) Tournament Promos – P-001 Super Pre-Release – Winner is one of only nine total examples in the CGC Cards Population Report. In 2022, Bandai hosted a series of TCG tournaments through the Super Pre-Release Event, a tournament circuit made to promote and celebrate the launch of the One Piece Card Game. Participation in these tournaments was limited, however — prospective players had to fill out an application and, if accepted, would be able to play.

These Super Pre-Release Events were hosted in trading card stores and venues across the United States and Canada, but only the first-place winners of each tournament received one of these Monkey D. Luffy promos.

Meanwhile, this particular Portgas D. Ace, One Piece (2024) Japanese Tournament Promos – OP07-119 Flagship Battle – Unawarded was never awarded to winners of a tournament, even though others like it were. Each year, Bandai hosts a series of Japanese exclusive tournaments called the Flagship Battles. Similar to the Super Pre-Release Event, Japan’s Flagship Battles offer special promo cards as participation awards and as a grand prize.

In 2024, winners of the Flagship Battle went home with this Portgas D. Ace, which was serialized out of 2,500 copies. However, the one pictured here has no official serial number — instead, it is serialized as AZAZ/2500. Whether this was done in error or meant to be a test print is unknown. Either way, the card was unawarded in tournaments. The Portgas D. Ace serialized promo is extremely rare on its own, but few collectors can say that they have an unawarded serialized promo card!
