Signed Ohtani Logoman Certified by CGC Realizes Record $576,000 Through Fanatics Collect
Posted on 5/4/2026
A one-of-one Shohei Ohtani card realized $576,000, shattering the record for a CGC-certified sports card sold in a Fanatics Collect auction, topping the previous record holder by $240,000. The rarity was just one of the thousands of CGC-certified sports cards, TCGs, and non-sports cards that were sold through the Fanatics Collect marketplace in April 2026.
The 2025 Topps Diamond Icons MLB Logo Patch Autographs #MLBA-SO Shohei Ohtani certified CGC Authentic realized $576,000 in a Premier Auction on April 16. As of early May, it now holds the record for the highest price ever realized by any CGC-certified sports card on the Fanatics Collect platform. Arguably the most-collected athlete in sports today, Ohtani continues to break records on the field and off. In fact, out of the top 12 highest prices realized on the platform for CGC sports cards, six feature the Los Angeles Dodgers superstar. After two straight World Series titles and his fourth MVP Award, Ohtani's rarest collectibles continue to be a benchmark for the hobby of modern sports cards.
Additionally, a 2022 Topps Five Star Jumbo Prime Autographs #FSJP-SO Shohei Ohtani - MLB Logo certified CGC Authentic realized $324,000 on April 16. As of early May, this particular Ohtani card holds the distinction of having the third-highest price ever realized by a CGC-certified sports card on the Fanatics Collect platform. Created during his final years with the Los Angeles Angels before swapping their red for Dodgers blue, this is another rarity featuring everything collectors want in a high-end card: a Logoman patch, autograph, and being numbered to just one ever made.
Another sports highlight from April is a 2025 Topps Chrome Update MLB Rookie Debut Patch Autos #RDPA-JWO James Wood certified CGC Authentic that realized $162,000 on April 16. Considering this is now the sixth-highest price realized for a CGC sports card on the Fanatics Collect platform, it shows just how highly baseball collectors think of the 23-year-old Washington Nationals outfielder. Ranked as the No.1 overall prospect in baseball just two years ago, the 6'6" slugger made his MLB debut on July 1, 2024. This card commemorates that game and features a special MLB Rookie Debut patch worn during Wood's first game in the big leagues.
Meanwhile, a University Magikarp, Pokémon (1998) Japanese Tamamushi University Hyper Test Day Two Prize graded CGC Gem Mint 10 realized $84,000 on April 26. From April 1998 to March 1999, Japanese media company Shogakukan ran a Pokémon-themed campaign through CoroCoro Comic aimed at school-age children. By passing “exams” given to them through their copies of the magazine, children subscribed to CoroCoro Comic would gradually earn a certification to be a “Pokémon Professor” and would receive Pokémon-themed prizes, including cards, merchandise, and more. The grand prize for passing the Hyper Professor Exam in December 1998 was this University Magikarp promo.
CGC has only certified 24 examples of University Magikarp, according to the CGC Cards Population Report, as of early May. Only four of these certified examples are graded CGC Gem Mint 10, with none graded higher.
Additionally, a Black Lotus, Magic: The Gathering (1993) Limited Edition Beta graded CGC 8 realized $33,000 on April 19. Black Lotus needs little introduction — one of the coveted Power Nine, it is one of the rarest cards in the entire TCG. Only officially released in MTG’s earliest sets, it is now on the Reserved List: a list of cards that Wizards of the Coast has vowed to never print again. CGC has certified 82 examples of Beta Black Lotus (in addition to 14 Artist Proofs), according to the CGC Cards Population Report, as of early May.
