Two CSG-graded Vintage Baseball Cards to Sell for Thousands on eBay
Posted on 8/26/2021
Two highly coveted vintage baseball cards that have been authenticated and graded by Certified Sports Guaranty® (CSG™) are being offered separately through the online auction site eBay in sales ending early Sunday (Eastern time), August 29, 2021.
Bidding for a 1951 Bowman #253 Mickey Mantle graded CSG 2 had already exceeded $5,000 on Thursday afternoon, with nearly 60 hours left until the sale. In Mantle's 18 seasons with the New York Yankees in the 1950s and 1960s, the team won seven World Series championships.
Meanwhile, from a generation earlier, a 1933 Goudey #53 Babe Ruth graded CSG 1 had already exceeded $3,100 on Thursday afternoon thanks to 43 bids. Ruth was also part of seven World Series championship teams, including three with the Boston Red Sox in 1915, 1916 and 1918, and the rest with the Yankees in the 1920s and 1930s.
Price guide and sales data suggest there is plenty of room for bidding on these cards to go higher. Each is prized by collectors, with higher-grade examples selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
