Evan Longoria Shows His CSG-certified Mike Trout Card
Posted on 8/3/2022
Certified Sports Guaranty® (CSG®) has certified a highly desirable Mike Trout 2011 Topps Cognac Diamond Anniversary Rookie Card #US175, with a grade of CSG 9. The card was apparently scooped up by another Major League Baseball player.
According to the CSG Population Report, this is the first — and so far only — example of this card to be graded by CSG. It was sold for $5,275 on January 5, 2022. The card is believed to have been purchased by Evan Longoria of the San Francisco Giants, who shared an image several days later of the CSG-graded Trout Cognac Diamond Anniversary Card on his Instagram page.
In his Instagram post, Longoria wrote: “After 2 years of searching for the right one to add…I finally pulled the trigger on what will be one of the more iconic baseball cards of my era. Hoping @miketrout continues his insane run of baseball dominance w a healthy return this year!”
Trout is a center fielder for the Los Angeles Angels who was drafted in the first round of the 2009 MLB draft. He won the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year Award. He is a 10-time MLB All-Star, three-time American League Most Valuable Player and an eight-time winner of the Silver Slugger Award. In 2019, Trout signed a 12-year, $426 million contract with the Angels.
Longoria was also a first-round draft pick and won AL Rookie of the Year in 2008. He is a three-time MLB All-Star and has three Gold Glove Awards. A California native, he spent the first decade of his pro career with the Tampa Bay Rays.
