Rare Pokémon Promos Certified by CGC Highlight Ongoing Landry Pop Auction

Posted on 8/15/2025

Highlights include a CGC-certified Ishihara GX graded CGC Gem Mint 10, a No. 1 Trainer from the 2010 World Championships and Art Academy promos.

Hundreds of CGC-certified Pokémon cards, including several tournament promos and special releases, are being offered in an upcoming Landry Pop auction. Landry’s Evolution: 25+ Years of Pokémon Grails auction is set to end on August 18, 2025.

Among the highlights is a No. 1 Trainer, Pokémon (2010) Pokémon World Championships Holo graded CGC 8 (lot 153), which has an estimate of $30,000 to $50,000. The 2010 World Championships were held in Waikoloa Village, Hawaii, in August. Like previous years, first, second and third-place winners of the tournament each received a numbered Trainer promo celebrating their victory and inviting them to participate in the next year’s event. However, the 2011 Japanese Regional Qualifiers would be cancelled after the devastating Tōhoku earthquakes and tsunami. CGC has certified several cards from the cancelled 2011 Japanese Qualifier event, as well as several other punch-cancelled cards that were either used as samples or only distributed to employees. Some of these cards are also available in the auction.

As of August 2025, CGC has certified 28 examples of Ishihara GX, with four graded CGC Gem Mint 10, according to the CGC Cards Population Report. These cards were presented to Tsunekazu Ishihara — CEO of the Pokémon Company — as a gift for his 60th birthday. Ishihara then gave many of the promos away to his guests during his birthday celebration. To learn more about these cards, go here.
