CSG Certifies Collector-favorite Autographed Michael Jordan Cards
Posted on 9/14/2021
Certified Sports Guaranty® (CSG™) recently certified two rare basketball cards featuring Michael Jordan, whom many regard as the sport's greatest player of all time. Each is easily worth thousands of dollars.
A 1999-00 Upper Deck Encore Game Jerseys #MJ-A Michael Jordan was graded CSG 5.5, with 10 Centering, 8.5 Corners, 9.5 Edges and 4.5 Surface, as well as a 9 for the autograph. The back of the card contains a congratulatory message from an Upper Deck official attesting to the authenticity of the Jordan signature as well as the piece of jersey worn by Jordan in an NBA game, which was embedded in the card.
The image of Jordan on the card shows him wearing a black pinstripe jersey that the Chicago Bulls first introduced during their record-setting 1995-96 season. That 72-win season saw Jordan return from retirement to lead the team to an NBA championship, the beginning of the Bulls' second three-peat (1996-1998). Together with the first three-peat (1991-1993), these are the only championships in Bulls history.
The other rare Jordan autographed card that CSG recently certified was a 2013-14 UD Exquisite Collection Exquisite Signatures #ES-MJ Michael Jordan graded CSG 9.5, with 9.5 Centering, 9 Corners, 9.5 Edges and 9.5 Surface, as well as a 10 for the autograph. The front and back both show a young Jordan in his North Carolina Tar Heels college uniform. CSG used the CSG Thick Holder to encapsulate this special card.
Since CSG began grading sports cards in early 2021, it has also certified several examples of the iconic 1986-87 Fleer #57 Michael Jordan, including a CSG 7.5 example that was offered in an auction in June.
