CGC Cards Certifies 1/1 Spider-Man vs. Venom Gold Battle Spectrum Card
Posted on 11/2/2023
CGC Cards™ recently certified one of the holy grails of modern Marvel cards — a 1/1 Spider-Man vs. Venom from the Marvel Masterpieces 2022 set.
The Spider-Man vs. Venom, Marvel Masterpieces (2023) #BS-4 Battle Spectrum – Gold received a grade of CGC 9. The card features an illustration of Spider-Man and Venom in combat, drawn by Dan dos Santos, an award-winning illustrator known for his work in the fantasy genre. This is the third 1/1 Marvel card that CGC Cards has certified, following a 1/1 Ghost-Spider and 1/1 Metal Carnage, both from the Marvel Metal Universe 2022 set.
Spider-Man and Venom’s rivalry goes way back; starting in The Amazing Spider-Man #252, when Spider-Man first discovered a sentient alien symbiote attached to him and separated it from his body. This alien symbiote found another host in Eddie Brock — a man with a fierce grudge against Spider-Man — and emerges as Venom. Since his debut, Venom has evolved from one of Spider-Man’s archenemies to an antihero, though he still often finds himself at odds with Spider-Man.
The Marvel Masterpieces TCG series is one of the most popular sets in the Marvel TCG. The set is several years in the making, featuring hand-painted oil masterpieces of over 100 iconic Marvel characters, battles and scenes. Fans have gone wild for the chase hits, which include original artwork and paintings by Dan dos Santos and serialed Battle Spectrum box hits (such as this Spider-Man vs. Venom card). Marvel Masterpieces 2022 has a total of 15 Battle Spectrum cards, with only one Gold Battle Spectrum parallel for each card.
