CGC Cards Registry Featured Set: Jungle – No Symbol

Posted on 2/12/2026

Guitar Hero's set is 100% complete and includes cards graded CGC 8 and higher.

In early printings of the Pokémon TCG’s second English set, Jungle, some cards were mistakenly printed without the set symbol — a rafflesia-like flower usually found below the right-hand corner of the card’s art box. These cards made it into some 1st Edition and Unlimited Jungle packs before the error was rectified.

These “No Set Symbol” Jungle cards are a rare piece of history in the Pokémon TCG, and many collectors have made it their goal to complete full sets. Guitar Hero is one such collector, and their set, Jungle – No Symbol, is now 100% complete! The cards featured in this set are all graded CGC 8 or higher, too — an impressive feat for cards that were printed more than 25 years ago!

We caught up with Guitar Hero to talk about this set and the CGC Cards Registry. Check out the Q&A below!

Q&A with the Set Owner

Tell us a little about how you got into collecting Pokémon cards.

I started collecting with my kids when they were in grammar school. We started when Fossil came out, but I was able to get the series before them (Base Set) at our local card store. We would sit at the kitchen table after school and rip open a few packs. We continued through Team Rocket, the Gym series and Neo, concentrating on 1st Edition cards.

What makes this set unique or special to you?

Truthfully, I didn’t know about the No Symbol cards until COVID-19. I read an article about them and checked our cards and found out we had quite a few of them. I started getting cards graded right after COVID and decided to complete the series. I found a few on eBay by way of CGC. I liked the idea of completing both the No Symbol and Unlimited Jungle Holo sets.

Who is your favorite Pokémon?

I do like the Snorlax card from the Jungle set, but I would say Lugia is my favorite.

Do you have any advice for others who may want to get into collecting Pokémon?

My advice to new collectors would be to pick one or two series a year and finish a complete set. Unfortunately, it is becoming an expensive hobby.

How has the CGC Cards Registry helped you with your collecting goals?

I like being able to go into the CGC Cards Registry and see the cards other collectors have and compare them to what I have. I must say, I’m jealous of some of the cards other collectors have. There are many other collectors that have some amazing cards and collections.
